Is Akita same as Shiba Inu?
The Akita and the Shiba Inu share a similar heritage and body shape. But the Akita, a member of the Working Group, and the Shiba Inu, a member of the Non-Sporting Group, are distinct. Each breed has physical traits and personalities all its own.
Is Akita Inu a good first dog?
Their independent nature can make them difficult to train, so we recommend training your Akita while they’re very young. Due to their demanding nature, Akitas are not suited to first-time pet owners.
Are Akitas better than Shibas?
The Akita dog protects its family. Because of its fighting dog background, it can be aggressive toward other dogs. The Shiba Inu, on the other hand, is often more tolerant of other dogs. And if you live in a smaller space or a shared environment — like in an apartment building — the Shiba Inu is better suited to adapt.
