What is the common name of begonia?
Begonia cucullata, also known as wax begonia and clubed begonia, is a species of the Begoniaceae that is native to South American countries of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. A common garden plant and part of the section Begonia, it was described in 1805 by Carl Ludwig Willdenow (1765–1812).
How long do begonias live for?
As the water evaporates, it will create a zone of humidity around your plant. No begonia has a long life span. Most only live for 2 to 3 years, even with good care. Cane begonias such as angel wings go dormant if the temperature gets too cool.
Do begonias stay alive all year?
Many plants from tropical areas, such as most begonias, can live for years, but are often treated as annuals because they won’t survive freezing winters outdoors. However, if you brought frost-tender begonias indoors, they would continue to grow so they aren’t technically annuals.
