Is VW Amarok a Ford Ranger?
As reported, the Volkswagen Amarok and Ford Ranger are products of an alliance between Volkswagen and Ford, sharing much of their floorpans, engines, transmissions and key technology and safety features – and largely differentiated only through exterior and interior styling.
Is the VW Amarok coming to us?
To reiterate: Volkswagen is not planning to offer the Amarok in the US, but considering we’ll get most of this truck’s goodness in the next-gen Ford Ranger, that seems just fine. Ford will bring the new Ranger to the US in 2023, and it’ll even come with a 392-hp Raptor variant — something VW can’t match.
What problems do VW Amarok have?
The most common fault on the VW Amarok was the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. The EGR valve feeds the exhaust gases back into the engine to reduce NOx (nitrogen dioxide levels), but they often fail quite early which is highlighted by a rough idle or an illuminated engine management light.
